After their daughter, Casey Anthony, was tried for and found innocent of the murder of her daughter, Caylee, George and Cindy Anthony have chosen Dr. Phil as the person they want to interview them about the whole situation. The Anthonys have been approached by many media outlets, but they have chosen Dr. Phil. According to Cindy, "We knew that we’d want to speak at some point, and we figured there was no better place than with Dr. Phil. We are hoping that by doing this interview, we will be able to help other people who may be experiencing struggles of their own. We certainly don’t want anyone to experience what we have these last three years." The Anthonys are not receiving payment for appearing on the show.
The show will air on September 12, 2011 as the premier of the show’s 10th season.
Dr. Phil has been a staple of daytime television since 1998, when Oprah Winfrey asked him to appear on her show. He appeared frequently as a "Relationship and Life Strategy Expert" until 2002, when he started his own show. During the show, he addresses various topics and gives advice to people appearing on the show. The show is syndicated all throughout the United States as well as several other countries. The show has been renewed through 2014 and has received a Daytime Emmy nomination every year since 2004. Reruns of the series can be found on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.
